Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to make it easier. Our wealth management FAQs cover common questions about our services, process and what to expect when working with BlackPoint Capital Partners, whether you are exploring your options or ready to talk.

Getting Started

Yes, we offer an initial consultation at no cost. It’s an opportunity for us to learn more about your situation and see whether we’re the right fit for your needs. There’s no obligation to move forward.

No documents are required for your first meeting. You’re welcome to bring notes or questions, but we’ll guide the conversation and let you know if anything specific would be helpful down the line.

Most of our meetings are held virtually, allowing us to work with clients across the US and internationally. In-person meetings are available in select locations by appointment.

Who We Work With

We work with high-net-worth individuals and families across the US, as well as UK expats living in the US. Most of our clients have $500,000 or more in investable assets and are looking for clear, ongoing financial guidance. Whether they’re planning for retirement or managing cross-border wealth, they want to feel more confident about their long-term strategy.

Yes. We regularly work with UK nationals who are planning a move or already living in the US. Whether you’re transferring pensions, aligning investments, or navigating tax implications, we provide cross-border guidance tailored to your new circumstances.

We work with both. Whether you’re an individual planning for retirement or a business owner needing succession strategies and risk protection, we tailor our advice to support your full financial picture.

Services & Approach

We’re a fiduciary firm offering fee-based financial planning and investment management. That means our core services are compensated through transparent, straightforward fees. In some cases, such as when implementing life insurance strategies, we may receive commissions, and we always disclose this upfront.

Yes, all of our advisors are registered as fiduciaries. This means that we are legally bound to act in your best interests at all times. It’s a commitment we take very seriously, and it underscores our dedication to providing you with unbiased and client-centric financial advice.

At BlackPoint Capital Partners, we have crafted an investment philosophy that serves as the cornerstone of our approach to managing your wealth. Our philosophy is grounded in four key principles: diversification, long-term focus, risk management, and personalization. These principles collectively guide our decisions and actions as we strive to help you achieve your financial goals.

We take a personalized approach to investment strategy. When you become a client, we’ll start by understanding your financial goals, risk tolerance, and any unique circumstances. From there, we’ll create a customized investment plan that aligns with your objectives. We also conduct regular reviews to ensure your strategy adapts to changes in your life and the market.

Yes. We guide UK expats through the complexities of pension transfers, including SIPPs and QROPS, with a focus on regulatory compliance and long-term planning. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions that align with your retirement goals and tax position in the US.

Yes, we can collaborate with anyone on your team to ensure we’re all adding as much value as possible to you and working toward a unified strategy that supports your goals.

We’re a boutique firm that takes the time to understand your full financial picture — across borders, generations, and life stages. As fiduciaries, we’re not tied to any product or platform. We offer thoughtful guidance, tailored strategies, and long-term partnership focused on what matters most to you.

Yes. We work with US citizens living abroad who need help managing their American financial accounts, cross-border investments, or tax-aligned strategies. Whether you’re abroad temporarily or permanently, we help ensure your financial plan remains aligned with US regulations while supporting your goals in your country of residence.

Retirement Planning

It depends on your goals, risk profile, and overall portfolio. We take time to understand your full financial picture and help you invest in a way that fits your long term plan. If you also have UK assets or income, we make sure your IRA strategy aligns with your broader financial situation.

While you cannot merge them into a single account, we help you coordinate your US and UK retirement assets so they work together. That includes aligning investment strategies, managing currency risk, and planning for tax efficient withdrawals on both sides.

This depends on your future plans, the type of pension you have, and your tax situation. We provide clear, impartial advice to help you decide whether a UK pension transfer is right for you. Our goal is to help you make a confident choice based on your personal needs.

It depends on your income. To contribute to a Traditional or Roth IRA, you must have earned income that is subject to US income tax. If your foreign earnings are excluded under the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE), you may not qualify. We can help you review your situation and determine what’s possible based on your income sources and tax filing status.
